Title: A Market for Software Improvement

Abstract:

I will present a vision for the creation of a dynamic marketplace for the improvement of software: both fixing bugs and adding features. I believe formulating this problem as a market has the potential to radically change the world of software engineering. However, there are significant research challenges both in the design of the market and mechanism, and in the requirements on program analysis. I will discuss some of these challenges, and then facilitate a discussion on how we might go about attacking them.
