Brad Chen delivered the opening remarks(picture to the right). He
welcomed people to the HotOS session and thanked the Joe Boykin, Jeff
Mogul and the Program Committee for their efforts in putting the
Jeff Mogul had some comments as the Program Committee Chair. The primary goals of the programming committe were to get interesting papers which would cause discussion. To this end, they rejected only the papers that were "clearly wrong" and kept many that were "not clearly right." They also gave the session chairs significant amount of freedom in how they organized the session.
Joe Boykin plugged the "Outrageous Opinion" session, pointing out there would be much food & beverage available. He encouraged people to think of ridiculous things and submit them.
