About

The Harvard UAV Networking Lab investigates ad-hoc aerial wireless networks.

We envision flying aerial grids that can provide on-demand and instant networking infrastructure for airborne and ground clients. Such grids would support monitoring, real-time imagery, planning, control, connectivity and many other applications, both in civilian and military realms.

We have constructed a testbed consisting of multiple UAVs and ground nodes that are equipped with 802.11 Wi-Fi and have performed field experiments aimed at collecting link measurement data under different flight environments, characteristics and maneuvers. We believe this novel problem domain will reveal new opportunities for network protocol design, optimization strategies, and applications.
