Overview
The First SHIMMER Technology Exchange (STE 2009) will
provide a forum for the SHIMMER community to learn from one another
about important developments and SHIMMER related projects both in the
academia and industry. The two day event will include a one day
hands-on SHIMMER training course followed by a one day workshop in
which researchers will present exciting projects and lead in-depth
technical discussions. There will also be an open-mic session where
any of the attendees can give a short presentation on what they are
doing with SHIMMER.
Please note: There will be NO on-site registration at the
event. All attendees MUST register prior to the event.

SHIMMER (Sensing Health with Intelligence, Modularity, Mobility, and
Experimental Reusability) is a small wireless sensor platform designed to
support wearable applications. It provides an extremely extensible platform for
real-time kinematic motion and physiological sensing. It features a large
storage capacity and low-power standards based wireless communication
technologies which facilitate wearable or wireless sensing in both connected and
disconnected modes.
Platform Features
- TI MSP430 microcontroller
- Chipcon CC2420 (802.15.4 standard) and Bluetooth (WML-C46A) radios
- MicroSD slot storage with up to 2GB
- 250 or 260 mAh Li-polymer rechargeable battery
- 3-axis Accelerometer (integrated)
- sensors (available as extension boards)
