The textbook for the course is Computer Systems: A Programmer's Perspective (also known as CS:APP) by Randal E. Bryant and David R. O'Hallaron. Prentice Hall, 2003, ISBN 0-13-034074-X. The book may be purchased at the Harvard Coop, or from one of many online bookstores.
The book is required and assignments, exams, etc. will assume you have done the requisite reading.
