Isla del Sol
Here we are standing at the Chincana ruins on the northern end of Isla del Sol. We spent a day hiking from the village of Yumani on the south end of the island to the ruins and back, a 7-hour roundtrip. These ruins (as with others on the island) date from Inca times; the island was central to the Inca civilization. Nearby is the Titi Khar'ka, or "rock of the puma", which according to Inca legend is where the sun was born.
