China is definitely on the rise. Our first impression of Beijing was enormous growth -- the skyline is dotted with countless construction cranes, enormous new buildings going up everywhere. With a history stretching back for millennia and a vibrant culture, we couldn't resist the opportunity to visit, if even for a short time. With only about 10 days to spare, we only managed to scratch the surface -- traveling to Beijing, Xi'an, and the Great Wall near Jinshanling. Even so, we were enthralled by this bustling, energetic country. Everyone was very friendly and locals were very patient with my faltering Mandarin. Zhong guo tai bang -- China rocks.
