Fundación Ecológica Hola Vida
Located near Puyo, Hola Vida is a tract of secondary rain forest popular
with tour operators in Baños. Amy and I only had two days to
explore the jungle so we signed up for a trip down there. I wasn't
expecting much but had a great time. A lot less wildlife than
the jungles in Borneo and Costa Rica, but our guide was fantastic.
On the way there we got a chance to ride across the Rio Pastaza in this little cable car -- more of a cart, really -- hundreds of feet above the river. Those cables you see in the picture are the only thing between us and certain death.
