The sensor network base station at the observatory. The laptop is receiving data in real time from the sensors through the FreeWave radio modem (on the ledge against the wall). The program running on the laptop shows the status of the sensor nodes which in this case are actively downloading data from a seismic event. The hand radios were used to communicate with personnel at the deployment site, over 4 km away. We even brought a wireless router to facilitate communication between our laptops at the lab.
