Ayutthaya
Our first day we took a day trip up to Ayutthaya, not far from Bangkok, which was originally the capital of a great kingdom between the 14th and 18th centuries. Many remnants of ancient Buddhist temples dot the city: having seen so many ancient Buddhist monuments in other countries, we spent just a little time here before heading back to Bangkok - which is where the action is anyway.
