Kundiawa
The next day we met Simon, Veronica, little Karina, and Alice in Mt. Hagen and took a PMV (public motor vehicle - a minibus essentially) to Kundiawa, the jumping-off point for the long truck ride up the mountain to Baiau village. Kundiawa is typical of highlands towns - little more than a couple of shops and a big dusty road. Many people say it's dangerous to walk around after dark in PNG and there's little reason to do so anyway, as everything closes down at 6pm.
