En Route to Bali
Travel in Southeast Asia is not without its hangups. Our bus from Bromo to Bali got a flat tire just 3 km from the garage where we were due to change coaches. Our driver hopped out, took off his shirt, and immediately went to work changing it (in the 95-degree weather and blazing sun of a Javanese afternoon). I managed to help by removing all of the baggage from the bus (which was piled up on top of the spare) and putting it back on again.
