EVALUATION FORMS: CS266 ======================== The purpose of this form is to give me feedback on the structure and content of this class. The answers are meant to be anonymous. I'm interested in knowing both what didn't work as well as what worked, and any suggestions for improvement. CONTENT ======= Topics: Swarm intelligence, Amorphous Computing (and Devel Bio), Immune-inspired approaches, Synthetic Biology, Applications. Ques: Which topics did you like best/least? Ques: Which topics did you think were not given sufficient time (or given too much)? Ques: Are there other topics you would have liked to cover? Ques: Your opinion on papers to keep: papers to nix: Ques: Any other comments. IN-CLASS ========= Ques: Would you prefer student-led or lecturer-led presentations/discussions? Ques: Would you prefer that the presentation not review the paper content at all? Ques: Did you find the in-class discussions useful in understanding the concepts beyond reading the paper yourself? (possibly answer format: X% of the time, X = _____) Ques: Did you find participating in the in-class discussions difficult, and if so why (and any suggestions on what might make it easier for you)? Ques: Any suggestions on in-class format. PROJECT ======== Ques: Would you have prefered a list of more concretely bounded class projects? (For e.g., extending the work of specific papers.) Ques: How would you feel if you had a limited set of projects to choose from (maybe/good/bad/other)? Ques: Was there enough information to pick projects? What might have helped, given that proposals are due by end of first month? Ques: (related to above) The current organisation of the course was to cover the topics one by one, but be done with major ones by mid-term and then revisit applications of all of them. - Alternatively the first two weeks could have been an overview of each topic by me (the papers assigned would be overview/vision papers) Would the second organisation be preferable? (yes/no) Ques: Any other comments on projects. OVERALL: ========= Ques: Rank order the following (most worthwhile first). Feel free to comment. = Reading Papers, In-class discussion, Project, Writing reviews RANDOM: ======= Ques: For the bio-models (for example ant-based models) would it have been helpful to have simulation models to play with? or simple problem sets to implement some of the models in simulation? Ques: Would regular office hours have helped? (as opposed to meeting by appointment) Ques: Was writing paper reviews useful? Would you have liked to have seen other people's reviews?
