SB 301: RADHIKA'S 2-WEEK TOPIC

Topic: Modelling Development and Other Multi-cellular Systems

This segment of the class will be an introduction to problems in development and problems in modelling development --- How do we relate the behavior of individual cells to the properties of the multi-cellular tissue, organ, or organism? How do we use math and computation to prove hypotheses and derive novel implications in a multi-cellular context. There are many open questions in this topic, so we will explore these through the lectures and readings.

The overall flow of the 4 lectures will be:

  1. Introduction to development and modelling interacting elements embedded in space
  2. Genetic network models and parameter searches
  3. Learning network models blindly from data
  4. Testing models by building synthetic multi-cellular systems.
