Kings is a card game that you play against the computer. The goal is to use all of the cards in your hand while building solitaire-like series of cards that alternate in color and decrease in value (kings are high, aces low). These series are initiated by four cards that the dealer places face up on the left side of the table after the hands have been dealt. A series can be moved and appended to the end of another series to create a larger one, and it can also be used to help create one of four "King series," which are just like the other series except they start with a King (these series are built on the right side of the table).
Begin each turn by drawing one card (pressing the appropriate button), and then make all possible moves from your present hand and the present set of series. To play a card or move a series, click on it. It will be highlighted, and then you can click on the spot where you want it to go. When you're done with your turn, press the appropriate button and the computer will draw a card. You then need to repeatedly press the "Computer's Step" button to see the computer's moves, one at a time. This button will become inactive when the computer has exhausted the moves it can make.
The game is primarily one of luck, since you will usually want to play every card that you can (although some players like to see if they can keep the computer from moving by holding on to playable cards). The one situation that requires a bit of thought involves filling the gap that is created when one series is appended to another one. If you do it right, you can often use up a few of your cards at once.
As you begin to play, consult the status bar; it will display some basic instructions during the course of the game. In terms of strategy, watch how the computer plays--it will quickly show you the types of moves you should make!
