Harvard is a member of PlanetLab. The process for creating a new PlanetLab account and an associated project is:
- Register here for a new account. When registering, select "Harvard University" as your site.
- E-mail the current Harvard site administrator, Geoffrey Mainland, to let him know you've applied for an account (we get a lot of spam requests from people hping to slip an account request past us). Please provide your name, the name of the faculty member with whom you are working, a name for your project's slice, starting with "harvard_", a short description of your project, and a URL for your project's web site.
- You will receive an e-mail when your account has been approved. The site admin has other responsibilities, so please be prepared to wait at least 24 hours for your account to be approved.
- Read the docs on the PlanetLab site!
All PlanetLab incident reports should be handled per the instructions at http://www.planet-lab.org/support. There's not much we can do here locally other than turn the machine on and off. A list of recent PlanetLab security notices can be found here: http://www.planet-lab.org/security_notice
